2011, a great year AND a big decision

Hey all. I hope everyone had a great New Year and holiday season. Things were good here... travel to the cold Midwest with the guy for holidays with the parents. Was a good time. Now that I'm back in SF and the new year is beginning, I have been thinking about what I want for 2011. And the answer is I want lots...or rather, more of the same from 2010. A year filled with lots of learning, travel, and love. And to the last point I have been thinking about the future of "Markus Ram". I started doing gay porn back when I was single, had just turned 40, and was out to have some fun and feel my sexual oats.

Things are different now though, and so am I. I'm still sexual as all hell, but now want to focus it primarily on the one guy who makes me laugh and who I have a great time with.

What does all of this mean? That Markus Ram has had a great run...having sex with some great guys, meeting/working with some great people, and experiencing a whole side of life that many can only dream about. And now it's time to say goodbye. I'll still be around in my "off-screen" life. ;-) I'll still be traveling and experiencing lots of cool things. I'll even probably still have little pangs of "Oooh that would be fun" when I see some good porn. But this chapter is closed.

Yeah, I'm still here. ;-) Just been hittin' it hard as I finally start to pull it together following knee surgery. Yeah I had shoulder surgery a couple of years ago, and had to get it together after that. But that time was different. I still had my legs and could do cardio. This time I couldn't. So I kinda lost my physical edge a bit. Here are some pics I took before I hit my "okay, time to get serious" moment. Not bad, but not what I expect from my Markus Ram self. The package still looks good though...

Yeppers... it's been ages since my last post in May. I don't know why, but this has been probably one of the more eventful years on a personal level that I've had in long time!
I last posted about time in Miami, followed by a breakup. Then an entry about my fav club, Club Papi, followed by the cool news of Black Balled 6 doing well at the Grabbys. Lots has happened since then. I'll condense it for you:

Knee injury followed by major swelling
Trip to London for Wimbledon, fun, and a boy
Falling for/bonding with above wonderful and cute Brit boy, but no UK "happily ever after"
Potential HIV exposure and eventual negative test results
Knee Surgery and quick healing

It's a lot. Don't really want to go into details more than just to say all has worked out okay. Knee is healing and I'm walking pretty normally already after 3 weeks. The Brit boy didn't work out but hopefully we'll remain good friends. And the neg test results are good for knowing that I won't have that to manage on my already full plate.
Yeah life has been interesting. But that's okay...

Though it would be nice to have things be a little more mundane for awhile. ;-) More later.

Club Papi

Went out this past weekend to my favorite club here in San Francisco, Club Papi. Jamie is the head honcho/promoter of this venue -- a monthly Latin dance club with three different dance floors (Latin Hi-Energy, Hip Hop, and Salsa). I have to admit that back in the day when there was a club called The Box here in SF, I would see Jamie there all the time and wanted him bigtime. I'm not just a sucker for Latin guys... I'm a sucker for cute guys...period! ;-)

It's a great club to go to and hear music I like, see the diversity I prefer (Latin and Black guys), I see my fav dancer Cisco (check out www.yocisco.com) and get my groove on out on the dance floor. The "maraschino cherry" on top of it all is Lola, the hostess with her high blonde 'do and ready smile. She has been with Jamie from the beginning and has always made me feel good when I go there. I told her that this past weekend and I think it touched her. Sometimes we don't know how much our good energy we put out can positively affect others who may be feeling down... if even a little bit. Lola has definitely made me feel much better on many occasions with her smile and comments walking around the dance floor while holding a mic. Club Papi wouldn't be the same without you.

Just a quick entry I want to write in response to a comment left on my "Weighing in..." post.

It's a free country, and we all have the right to share opinions. I won't ever stop someone from commenting on a post as long as there is no disrespect. One of the comments made mention of whining about the racism in the industry instead of just taking matters into our own hands and doing our own work. Well, no whining here folks. I have worked with the people I wanted to work with, and not with the ones I didn't. I have done some good work, and am very happy if I don't do another film (relationship status aside). Some guys like Tyson Cane, Tiger Tyson (and now hopefully Diesel Washington) have decided to do their own work and not wait for others to make the hiring decisions. God bless'em. It's tough out their to get the money to do decent work. But it's great if they can. I don't have any interest, but support their efforts 100%.

The most important thing I can say in response is that just because you bring something to light as a fact doesn't make it a whine.
And if they want to leave potential money on the table... who am I to stop them.

Back After a Break

It's been about a month since my last update. Lots has happened. Had a great vacation in Miami with some time to get away for myself. Been working hard at my job. And...
Broke up with my BF from the past 11 months. So it's been a little bit of a challenging month. It's all good though. It's okay to work hard at a job because I have a job! And many don't these days. The breakup was okay too. It was definitely hard, don't get me wrong. But it was for the better -- and we will be very good friends in the long run.

So hopefully you will forgive me for taking some "me" time. ;-)

Weighing In on the GayVN's and other stuff

Congrats (I guess) to all the GAYVN winners, for what it's worth. On some level the GayVN's are about recognition of one's work. But on so many other levels it's about politics, posturing, and BS. So that's why the "I guess".
And as usual there were no surprises. The same types of guys won in every major category. No surprises. RS won with it's big blockbuster... no surprises. Most of the winners outside of "Best Ethnic" whatever were white guys... no surprises there either. It's all a little predictable.

I read that last entry on Diesel's blog and he wasn't too happy about the proceedings. And I can't say I blame him -- or Ian Rock, or Aron Ridge, or any of the other many Af-Am models who will never seriously be considered for a GayVN award. Besides the interminable length of the awards ceremony, I also had a hard time going last year because of how exceptionally white the awards are and how it didn't seem to matter to anyone except the men of color. And no, knowing that you can definitely be recognized for "Best Ethnic" fill-in-the-blank is not the same. It's a door prize much akin to "separate but equal". And pretty much means "you're good, but you're still not as acceptable as the rest of us.

I'm flashing back to the Grabby awards last year, when Stacy asked me to present one of the last awards for the evening. I wasn't supposed to be a presenter but was very happy to fill in. Afterward, he mentioned how glad he was that I could be there to present and help provide the face of one more good African American model to an industry crowd that so often acts like we don't exist in any other way than as thugs or top fuckers with 12 inch dicks and nothing else.

I don't ever want to get into any blog exchanges with other models/entities, but I will weigh in on Diesel's reaction to ML. We live in America, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I gotta say that it's pretty obtuse to blame the lack of black models in the industry on internalized homophobia within the black community. Painting us all with that brush is like when people said that AIDS spread in the black communities because of the role of the black church in stigmatizing homosexuality. Or like when people think that all black families are ruled by a large black matriarch "Mama" kind of figure. These examples exist, yes. But not for all of us. I don't fit into any of these catgories... and I think I'm pretty black. (Remind me to write about the time I got into it -- or rather refused to get into it -- with Rod Barry over how he considered himself more black-acting than me).

I can't speak to the East Coast experience like Diesel, but I can say that here on the West Coast black models are just not being hired except by a few rare directors that I have mentioned in previous entries -- you all know who you are and I love you all. If they are being hired by the other major studios, it's for one offs IF they are being hired at all. It's an open fact, so why not just put it out there and stop pretending that it's something else or some other reason. They aren't being hired because many of the studio heads have a distaste for hiring black models unless it's to fulfill a particular limited sexual stereotype. It's not about the lack of black models, or homophobia in the black community, or whatever other bullshit ML and others are trying to sell us.

Like my old Marketing Manager at Falcon said to some others when the discussion of race in our movie casting came up and they admitted feeling uncomfortable talking about that issue. Her point hit the nail on the head -- Even if you feel uncomfortable talking about it, you at least owe him (me) the honest point of discussion. That's all he wants.
Bottom Line: Just be honest guys!
So back to the original point. Congrats to the GayVN winners. I'm sure many of them have done good work and also literally worked their asses off to get that recognition. It would be nice though if other models had the same chance even without white skin. That's all... Later.

GAYVN weekend

Just a quick note to say HEY and good luck to all my buddies who are nominated for/coming to SF for the GAYVN's. I'm not doing anything around the whole thing this weekend. Not nominated for anything, and not really into any of the bar parties. Hanging out with my boi tonight, and then seeing a show with an old friend tomorrow. And that's totally okay. I had always wanted to go to the GAYVN's until last year. I was offered a ticket by Titan... so I went. At the halfway point almost 2 hours into the show, I wanted to shoot myself!
At least 10 nominees for every award, and seemingly over 30 awards. it was pretty tortured.

Black Balled 6: The Lost Vid

I was going through some old video files on my hard drive and found this short video that I shot in the hotel after the second day of shooting Black Balled 6: Under the Hood. I was totally beat and tired, but still feeling the afterglow... so to speak.
BTW, the Ram-It-In is what Chi Chi calls the Ramada Plaza on Santa Monica in LA. It's where most pornstars stay when they go to film. Yeah, it's a pretty apt name.

Hey everyone, it's been way too long since I posted anything on here. And since I don't have any upcoming vids to push I figured I would open up the vaults and give you a glimpse of the work I put into getting ready for vid work last year.
When the year started I had a goal of dropping 2o pounds and getting as ripped and lean as I could get. To help in the effort I documented my body in pictures every couple of weeks or so. This batch came from pics I took last February. I was already starting to see the effects and was excited for my upcoming Folsom Prison shoot with Diesel. I actually took a shitload more pics, but figured I could just post a handful for now. And be nice with the photo critiques... it was just me, my digital camera w/timer, and a tripod! ;-)

Markus Updates

It's been a little bit since my last update... work, boyfriend, life, the usual stuff getting in the way. But all is good with one exception. A buddy of mine passed away last week. We think he was in a situation like Heath Ledger (accident overdose). And I only found out 40 minutes before rushing to his funeral. Definitely kinda fucked up. But events like this always help you see what is important in life. In the end, it's not so important that you won porn awards or had sex with every porn star you wanted to fuck. The important thing is always remembering and appreciating the people around you who love and support you.
Pretty simple, huh?!
Okay, enough of that. Gonna post some pics and also some info about my participation in the upcoming Rising Starz.

Man oh man it's been a long time since my last update. Sorry about that. But better late than never, right?! Work has finally mellowed out and I can put some time back into this. It's kinda late and I need to get to bed (after a long day of Australian Open men's tennis and Superbowl action). But I want to post a couple of things.

What a freakin' year... One buddy of mine told me in January that this would be the year of Markus. And he was right. It's not so much that I did a ton of vids and was signed to an exclusive contract or anything. That wasn't the goal. The goal was to come back from a crappy '07 better than ever with my un-retirement from porn. I also set out the goal of having fun and not focusing on dating too much.

Well I got the first one spot on. Did some great videos for Titan, Jett Blakk, and Chi Chi/All Worlds (THANK YOU ALL), had some great co-stars (Diesel, Braxton, Rick, and the boys of Black Balled 6), traveled and made some great new friends all over (Ed, Vania, Chris, Ian, Papi Chulo, Aarin, Marlon... and so many others), and had the time of my life.
For the second goal, I found myself falling hard for a great guy who makes me feel great with just a smile. I don't know where it's going, but I know that he'll be the one I spend tonight and most of '09 with. ;)

My Birthday, Beyoncé, and Black Balled 6

December is my birthday month... and Dec. 1 is my official porn birthday. I turn 45 this month and feel damn good for a 45 year-old porn star! ;-) It's also the culmination of 2008, a year in which I did some of my best work ever. I know Thanksgiving is past, but I certainly have a helluva lot to be thankful for. And a big thanks to my fans for making it possible. I wouldn't be hired if you didn't want to see me do my thang. Go see it if you can. At the very least you will see a wonderfully acted story about Harvey Milk and come to know how we got to where we are politically as gay men. And beyond that, it will give you a great appreciation for how much San Francisco has changed over the years.

So much has been going -- in the world as well as personally -- and I've been too swamped to post much other than my Prop 8 entries. And trust me, I'm not complaining at all that I have a job in this day and age where so many are losing theirs. It's been pretty busy though, and I'm now enjoying a much-needed week off. I was gonna go to Mexico or Miami. Instead I opted to just stay here and chill in SF. Getting away to a nice beach with mondo sun/heat would have been nice. But it needed to be easier and cheaper than it was turning out online. It's cool though. I'll just pamper myself here for a week and also have a nice Turkey Day with my guy (yeah, MR has a guy). ;)

It's kinda late so I want to keep this one pretty short... I still haven't looked at Black Balled 6 yet. Maybe tomorrow. It's always a little weird though (looking at yourself having sex). At least for me it is. But whenever I do look at it, it's gonna be nice to see some African-American faces in a porn context. The lack of black guys in mainstream porn is starting to wear on me a bit these days. I get the VideoView email every week, and am always annoyed at the end when there hasn't been a mention of any black guys other than thugboys or cocodorm. No offense at all to what they do and the markets they serve, but come on!?!?!? We have a black president (actually bi-racial, but he refers to himself as black for the most part), so why on earth do the major studios still resist putting black guys into their vids in numbers that mirror our actual numbers? And no, hiring one and putting him in several doesn't count! So step it up guys!

Election Night... Sad Night: Gavin Rallying the Crowd at "No On Prop 8"

Even though Obama had been declared a winner, the results for Prop 8 were coming in and it didn't look good right from the start. I had a sinking feeling about it. As more precincts started reporting, I think there was a need for the organizers to galvanize the troops a bit. There were some great speakers, including the older couple from the commercial talking about their daughter AND the Rev. Amos Brown (who really fired us up). Then Gavin got up and spoke. I could tell from his tone that he didn't think we were gonna win. But he inspired us to do what has happened all this week: TO KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT! Thanks Gavin.

We were stationed at the Doc Johnson tent for a long time together, then we grabbed a bite to eat afterwards before hitting the main Titan tent again. Folsom Street Fair Weekend 2008, Part 2: Magnitude Rehearsal

Sorry... it's been a little busy and crazy since Folsom weekend. But I'm finally catching up now and wanted to get out some pictures from the Magnitude rehearsal us Titan guys had the afternoon before the big event. The rehearsal was fun and hot, the actual shows even funner and hotter (yeah funner is a word, right???). Most of the pics came from before rehearsal and not the actual show. Sometimes it's nice to put down the camera and just be a participant! ;-)

These first two shots are of Tony Buff and Derek De Silva before their very intense bondage and whipping performance. I love how these guys actually live what they do and not just put on act. Folsom Street Fair Weekend 2008, Part 1: Doin' my comedy bit

My first commitment for the weekend was filming a funny short film for my new galpal Vania of Maleflixxx. The subject of the short was blowjobs, or rather the age old question of who gives a better blowjob: gay men or women. We had a blast, laughing almost the whole time. I wasn't sure if I could be "funny", but then I remembered that I'm pretty much a character anyway and it all went pretty easily from there. Lots going on this "Leather Weekend" here in San Francisco. Festivities start for me tomorrow by working. Well not really working, per se, but doing a comedy short for Missy V of Maleflixxx. After that I have a rehearsal for a performance at Magnitude tomorrow night. Eduardo, Dean Flynn and I will re-create our poster from the event and then some... Then on to Magnitude.

TGIF, Safer Sex, and making informed choices

TGIF everyone!
I have LOTS of stuff to post coming up: more pics from BB6, more vid from BB6, a great review link of Mug Shots, and a fucking awesome interview by Papi Chulo. But right now I wanted to post some thoughts on something I saw the other day.

I normally never weigh in on issues like this because I usually want to avoid the potential drama that comes with posting personal opinions. But I feel like this issue is important enough for a mention.
I noticed online that one of the other Black Balled 6 models was in another video recently. It's SX Video's Bareback Auditions 2. Now don't get me wrong. As I have mentioned on here before I could care less whether someone does bareback or not. I have great friends in this industry who do bb work, and I have no judgement on them or doing bb vids. Hell, haven't we all seen some bb vids that are totally hot?!?!? And yeah I have rented vids from SX Video, HDK, and T.I.M to name a few along with safer sex vids from all the other major studios.

In fact I was fortunate enough to meet Dawson (from Treasure Island Media fame) at Golds one day this past summer. He is a really cool and very handsome guy. We ended up having a big impromptu discussion on this point with him telling me about the comments and judgements he sometimes gets from people because of the work he does. I think his work is great. He makes an informed choice and is upfront about what he does. And that is the best way to do it I think.

This model from BB6 was not upfront about his work with SX Video though, and is one of those younger guys -- a bit standoffish and thinks he knows lots...yeah many of us were like that too back in the day -- that leads me to worry about this particular choice. In the vid he tops Jason Reed bareback. Jason is HOT, yeah. Who hasn't thought about making him take it like that?! The thing is that there is a perception still with many young guys that if you top bareback that will keep you safe. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I know several guys who used to think that same thing before they seroconverted. One was even very dismissive of me being more cautious in that way when I first met him. I saw him about 9 months later. He was thinner, on meds, and not quite so dismissive.

So personal feelings aside for this particular model, I just hope that IF he is gonna make choices like that in his vid career (or in his personal life) that he also gets the facts about those choices. Just my opinion. I feel great about my own safer sex choices as I continue my work in this industry. And I'm pretty grateful that for all I have done sexually in my life (whew boy), dealing with HIV is not one of the things I must also contend with as I get older and better (44 and counting, baby!).

Dylan Saunders: Take a bow!

The "Black Balled" series, as some of you may know, is all about a group of black guys taking on a lone white guy in various storylines. In this one we are mechanics, and he has brought his car in for work. And then we take advantage of him. Happens all the time right? LOL

I'm really happy with the work I did in Mug Shots. It gave me a chance to play a different type of character than I normally show in my Titan and other video work. I loved having lines too. Mostly though I'm glad that I was given the chance to show that I can fit very well into a different type of movie with model types that normally wouldn't be paired with a guy like me (take that however you will... and thanks again Jett).

Pornstar Weekend in Chicago, UPDATE

I am having a freakin' great time here in Chicago. Busy as all hell, but a great time. Hit the ground running on Friday and checked out the IML Leather Mart, before heading back to my friend's place where I'm staying grabbing some food and a quick disco nap. Then it was back to the Hyatt for the Folsom Prison release party with one of my closest friends who lives here in Chi-town. We had a blast. Finally got home around 2.

Saturday was pretty much the same... Woke up, did some ab work (gotta hit the ground running with some "fierceness"), then drove down to the Leather Mart again. Spent 4 great hours with fans and the other hot men of Titan before picking up some t-shirts from Jett Blakk, then heading on to the Park West for the Grabbys.

Had a helluva fun time at the Grabbys! Took pictures and video that I'll post when I get back to SF. Titan did well and my boy Diesel even won an award too. You'll love his reaction to it. I even got pulled up on stage as a presenter!!! Boy was I shocked as shit!!! I announced the Performers of the Year awards after giving a good shoutout to Chi Chi for 'discovering' me and yanking me from behind my desk at Falcon so I could be in Bang Bang!

Then it was on to the after party with Diesel and Rick Van Sant (more on him in the coming entries). And now my tired ass is typing a quick entry before it all starts over again at 11 for the Leather Mart, then zipping up to the North End for the Recovery Brunch hour for Mug Shots with Jett Blakk.

Friday Night Musings

It's been a helluva long week, but I wanted to give a few updates before bed.
First... you have got to read Jett Blakk's blog at http://blakksblog.jettblakk.com.

I gotta tell ya that it's pretty funny reading his "Mug Shots" day-of-shooting narrative. It's a very good and embellished read. LOL Not all of it, but some sections. The one part that was totally accurate was the recounting of me begging for a Starbucks stop before we I did my still shots. And if you ask any of my friends, you will hear the same thing: there is no 'Markus in the morning' without coffee!!!

The pics are cool to see though. Brings back some great memories of eating Braxton's very hot butt! Here's one, and I'll post a couple tomorrow... you will have to visit Jett's blog to see the rest.

The other bit of news is that I have confirmed with both Titan and Jett that I will be going to Chicago for the IML/Grabbys weekend. Both of my movies that I just shot will be promoted there. Folsom Prison, the hot movie I shot with Diesel Washington, is having its' premiere party Friday night. I'm looking forward to this one ALOT!!! It'll be interesting to see how the scene between us is received. And then on Sunday I have a promo for Mug Shots with Jett in the afternoon. And of course I will be going to the Grabbys on Saturday.

Apart from that, I'm gonna be hanging with friends and hopefully getting laid by some nice cornfed Midwestern boys. :-)

I gotta tell ya, Jett Blakk is great to work with not only as a director, but also in post-production with showing assets from the shoot.
I mentioned before that I played a security guard with Braxton Bond... here are some better pictures that Jett posted on his blog. I look pretty good, huh?!

On a funny note, I was a little worried while we were taking my individual shots with the prop gun. The estate we were on was surrounded by tall shrubs. BUT there was one apt. building that overlooked the area where we were taking these pics. And all I could think about was someone looking out their window, seeing a black man with a gun, and calling the police.
Yeah... THAT'S a great way to start a porn shoot!!! LOL

I HAD A GREAT FREAKIN' TIME ON THIS SHOOT!
Even though I have seen firsthand (from my experiences while working at Falcon) that porn can create a helluva lot of drama on and off the set, that's not how I see it. For me it's a total blast. Get paid to meet new people and do what I would be doing anyway. It's a total no brainer! ;) And this shoot lived up to that and then some... Braxton was very cool and very professional. And very very cute! The crew had me laughing the whole time. And Jett is one of the easiest directors I have ever worked with. He was very clear, and not hard to read (in figuring out whether he was happy with what you were doing). I definitely want to work for him again.

The first picture is actually courtesy of Jett Blakk's blog. It's a picture of me and my scene partner Braxton posing as security guards in front of the door. Below that is a picture I took with my camera beforehand. It's funny to me... kinda looks like we just had a commitment ceremony or something. We even had a visit by Chad Hunt, who showed up to do his stills after we finished shooting our scene. He's a cool guy. I think I interviewed him while at Falcon, but I had a chance to chat a bit more here. I did a few more things than that... but you are going to have to buy the DVD to watch the extra footage where I talked about my "other" activities with Chad! ;-)

And finally, the director himself. I've said it already, but thanks again for the opportunity Jett. I almost feel like putting in a version of what some airlines say:
"Out of all the porn models you could have chosen, we are delighted you selected Markus Ram for your sex needs today!"
(man oh man... once I start writing crap like this I KNOW I need more coffee or something)

I just got back from LA tonight after shooting a scene for Jett Blakk's upcoming Mug Shots for Dirty Bird Productions. My scene partner was Braxton Bond, and it was pretty freakin' HOT! :)

I have always had a great relationship with Chi Chi LaRue. And she again showed why she is such a class act in this business!
I let her know about the picture snafu in Smut, and she responded by giving her apologies and asking if there was anything she could do. Picture whore that I am, I asked for a copy of the book and sent my address.

Now in no way was anyone obligated to do anything about this situation, or do anything for me. Mistakes happen... and you just get over it.
Chi Chi had different plans, and had a copy of "SMUT" sent to me. I received it last night (coincidentally on the same day I received my NEW clear Fleshlight!!!). I was pretty surprised when I saw it at my door, and immediately took pics to send Chi Chi along with my huge thanks.

And I'll say it one more time...

SMUT, and other stuff

I was walking with a friend in the Castro a few weeks ago and he mentioned that he saw a picture of me in a book. Since I had unofficially retired from the porn biz a few years ago AND hadn't done any other modeling work, I was a little surprised. But sure enough after a quick jaunt to A Different Light, there it was. Two pictures, one featuring my very distinctive back tattoos, in Chi Chi LaRue's SMUT.

At first I felt kinda flattered... well actually, I still do. It's always a very cool thing when others feel there is something that is enough special about you that it warrants inclusion in something like a book. Especially given some of the other guys in there who are much bigger porn names/personas than Markus Ram. But then I looked in the picture credits to see my name and got a big surprise. The pictures listed the model as Tiger.

Again, don't get me wrong. He is a good model.. handsome guy... shaved head black man. I can't find too many pictures of him, but I could maybe see how someone could mistake us on first glance. A book is not first glance though, so someone in the Bruno Gmunder organization kinda messed this one up pretty good.

BUT... even if the name ain't right, the pics are me and look pretty good. I guess we gotta take the good stuff however we get it, huh?!

Yeah, it's official!

Won't say too much just yet other than YES, it's official. I have accepted an offer to do a shoot in mid-Feb. Details to come later. ;)

One thing you can definitely look forward to is a new and improved Markus Ram, totally ripped and leaned out. Not that I was a slacker before. LOL But I have resolved in this new year to lean out a bit, and totally rip my abs like never before. I started two weeks ago and I gotta say that they look pretty awesome already. I'm hoping to even turn them into an 8-pack if possible.

Kinda crazy, I know. But if you know me that totally fits!

The time has come folks... Markus Ram is a free man.
My last day at Falcon was on Friday, Nov. 10. Not too much fanfare... just time to move on! I had some good times and learned alot while at Falcon (working in their internet group), but it's time for change: new opportunities, new environment, new attitudes.

And best yet, there might just be an "unretirement" party for my film career. Nothing planned yet, but all options are back on the table folks.
In fact, I told the boys at Titan (my fav company to work for) that I would DEFINITELY come out of retirement if I could work with Diesel Washington. I told him the same thing at Folsom St. Fair. What were the exact words? I think I said, "Man I would definitely come out of retirement if I could fuckin' bottom for you!:

What can I say?!?!?
Here is his picture for those who don't know him. And I'll save for another discussion how fuckin great it would be for two hot African-American models to work together in a major studio production... something that is sorely needed in this fairly monochromatic industry. But I digress... ;)

Hope everyone had a great weekend. And congrats to all Steelers fans, and condolences to all Seahawks fans. :) Not a great game, but definitely a fun one.

The GayVN nominations came out and I can at least say that one of my movies got nominated for something (Lights and Darks). I'm neither surprised or disappointed to not be nominated for anything else though, because it's not like I've done THAT much where people would think "Hey, Let's nominate Markus Ram for (fill in the blank)". But it is good to know that Spencer Quest, my HOT co-star in Spy Quest, was also a smidge disappointed we didn't get nominated for our VERY hot scene. Here's what he wrote:
"I'm really very surprised our scene didn't get nominated---I think Titan must have submitted it, but it just didn't make the cut. Bummer. I think we deserved that. "
Now that is a compliment I'll keep... and the point of why I wanted to do vid work, i.e. have a great sex with great guys. And if others get off on it, even better!

Before I cut out I just wanted to mention an Atkol forum I found that discusses use of black models by the major studios. I finally weighed in after seeing a post from that hottie Matthew Rush. Check it out by clicking here when you get a chance.

Clearing the record

A friend told me about a website that had taken some comments I had made out of context to support a bit of vendetta they have against someone I know in the industry. It's not right, and I apologize that my words were used to hurt someone professionally in this business.

I will say that as an African-American model/performer, I do think there is much work to be done in terms of using other ethnicities of models in ways that don't perpetuate fetishizing stereotypes. Titan is a notable exception, and not just because I have worked with them. They value diversity, and it is clearly evident in their casting. It's a good start at the top level of studios, but hopefully we can do much better.

None of the many ethnic models working today should settle for anything less than an equal shot to show what they can do. You can quote me on that.
